The Mayor and
Mayoress of Stockport
visit the makers of the
Walking Map of Mellor
The Worshipful the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Eric Pyle and the Mayoress Mrs Pamela Pyle, visited Mellor in November 2001 to meet David Ackroyd and Peter Hewitt, who designed and published the Walking Map of Mellor and District. Peter and David had offered to go to the Mayor's Parlour at Stockport for the meeting, but the Mayor and Mayoress, both keen walkers, volunteered to get into their outdoor gear and come to Mellor. During the visit, David and Peter presented them with a framed copy of the Walking Map of Mellor and District.
