The ADSS North West Support Services Group have identified an opportunity for closer working together on topics of interest and importance to Social Services Departments/Directorates in the North West.

Please find attached a notification of an event that will be of interest to HR Managers in Social Services.

This is a jointly organised event on behalf of the ADSS North West Support Services Group. The aims and objectives of the day include work on sharing and promoting good Human Resource practice reflecting the principles of `People need People’. It is hoped that the day can also lead to some progress on benchmarking accurately Social Services HR performance data.

The event is to be held at the Lancashire Social Services Human Resources Unit Staff Training Centre in Kirkham [map enclosed]. Lancashire County Council Social Services Directorate are sponsoring all venue costs including lunch. The day will be chaired by Ged Taylor, Director of Social Services, Halton, who is the chair of the North West ADSS Human Resources Sub Group. Speakers and Group discussion Leaders are being supplied by Wigan, Lancashire, Wirral and Bolton Social Services free of charge.

As consequence there is no fee for attendance at this important Workshop. Each Social Services Department/Directorate is invited to attend and send up to three representatives. It is suggested that the event will be of significant interest to HR professionals from Social Services and their senior managers.

We look forward to meeting colleagues on the day on what promises to be a great opportunity to share experiences, learn from each other and agree a way forward for improving the quality of the social care workforce in the North West.
