JOINT LETTER FROM CHAIR OF SOCIAL SERVICES NORTH WEST AND REGIONAL CHAIR OF NHS EXECUTIVE NORTH WEST
31 July 2000
To: Chairs of Health Authorities, NHS Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and Groups;
Lead Members for Social Services in Local Authorities
Copies for information to Chief Executives and Directors of Social Services
Dear Colleague,
We are writing to let you know that we have renewed the top-level contact between the NHS Region and Social Services
North West (NWASSA), the body representing most of the social services authorities in the North West.
Past co-operation has led to much joint activity and working relationships between Health and Social Services locally
and across the North West. It is clear however that the two systems are being expected to work even more closely
together, to provide a seamless service to our users.
The attached minute gives details of the matters we addressed during our meeting on 10 July, and the further action
we have agreed. We encourage you to support the development of even closer partnerships at the local level, and
if there is anything we can do to support you in this, please do not hesitate to let us know.
We shall be meeting again early in 2001 and look forward to noting the progress we have all made in working together.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Joan Higgins, Cliff Morris (Councillor)
Regional Chair, NHS North West Chair, Social Services North West
